Cecily strong
Cecily Legler Strong (born February 8th, 1984) is an American comedian, actress, producer, and singer. Strong is known because she was a part-time cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 2012 until 2022. Strong is also the longest-tenured female cast member in the show's history. Strong was an CalArts graduate who performed improv in The Second City in Chicago. Strong is currently starring in a role on the Apple TV+ musical comedy series Schmigadoon! She also co-produces the series (2021-2024).
Other roles she's been in including voice acting in The Awesomes (2013-2015), and in supporting roles in films like Ghostbusters, The Meddler and The Female Brain. In 2015 she hosted the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Her first book, a memoir called This will all be Over Soon, was published in 2021.
For her work on Saturday Night Live, she was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the 72nd and the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards.
Childhood and early life
Strong was born in Springfield, Illinois, and was raised in Oak Park, an inner ring suburb of Chicago. She is the daughter of Penelope Strong and William Strong. He was the head of the Associated Press bureau and also operated his own PR company from 2013. Penny Legler Strong, a nurse practitioner who has been employed in a variety of hospitals throughout the region, is now retired. Strong was the child of divorced parents. Strong loved SNL when she was a kid and reenacting sketches with a companion and watching old SNL commercials on VHS. "I owned a tape of the best commercials and used to wear it every day." She said Phil Hartman had inspired her.
